Friday, May 20th

We woke still uncertain of how we should tackle our problem.  We hoped against hope that we’d receive a sign from the heavens above telling us what to do……and we did.

Waiting in our inbox was an email from our laconic son…..strongly suggesting that we should return home for our grandson’s first birthday.

We went through our options again…..

– would the OFII help us?

– how quickly could we find a mailing address in the Herault?

– could we convince the Director of the Prefecture in Carcassonne that he was wrong?

Each of these options presented stumbling blocks.  Without saying a word, we both knew we’d be heading home for new visas.  It was time to get off this roller coaster ride we’ve been on for the past few weeks.  With that resolved, our only regret was cancelling our trip to Brittany.

With nothing hanging over our heads, today was a day for rest and recuperation.

“Did you ever have to finally decide
Say yes to one and let the other one ride
There’s so many changes and tears you must hide
Did you ever have to finally decide”
