I was awakened by the sound of scratching last night…..hmmm, must be Felix in his litter box. I yawned, stretched out…..and bumped into Felix at the foot of the bed…..his eyes fixed on the ceiling.
Cripes……we have another visitor. I woke Craig up and gave him the news…..then went to the living room to finish the night on the couch…..where the pitter-patter of little feet couldn’t be heard. Felix joined me…..guess he needs his beauty sleep, too.
After breakfast, Craig searched high and low, inside and outside…..looking for the passageway that allowed the trespasser to enter. All known portals were still blocked and there was no evidence that the unwelcome guest had breached them. Since the noxious creature was confined to spaces within the walls and hadn’t entered the sanctity of the cottage, Craig was satisfied and moved on to another pressing issue.
The water line is leaking again……needless to say, it’s not seeping on the public side of the line, so it’s our responsibility. After finishing his rodent reconnaissance, Craig began digging to expose the flexible pipes….hoping to find the root cause of the problem. Ah-ha! Perhaps roots were the cause! They were encroaching on the surrounding spaces and might be putting undue pressure on the line. Craig expunged the offending material but wasn’t able to find the cause of the leak. So, now he has two problems to resolve.
In the interim, maybe….just maybe, the mouse will take an evening stroll and drown in the newly created mini-moat.
