Wednesday, March 2nd – Friday, March 4th (part 1)

The past few days have been routine and mundane…..Craig’s been cleaning the boat and I’ve been finalizing the details for our trip to Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia…..boy, that’s a sentence I never thought I’d be writing!

As I plan our future trip, my mind wanders back to Portugal…..

to the first stork nests I spied……atop the two chimneys flanking either side of an old farmhouse.

Craig, focused on the road ahead, missed them…..and had some doubts that this was actually what I had seen but, as the miles wore on, we began to see more and more nests…..

on the telephone poles lining the road, in sturdy treetops, perched on old  smokestacks……

each sighting bringing a child-like thrill.

I hope we never lose our sense of wonder.

  1. Sue Lund says:

We saw the same exact birds and nests in Lithuania. There were a lot of birds and nests along the roadside, in the countryside. I’m glad you are finally planning your
    canal excursions!
