Sunday, January 30th – Tuesday, February 1st

The past few days have been a flurry of frustrating phone calls and hurried trip planning.

First, multiple calls to our tour company to convince them that, based on their contract, we were entitled to a full refund..  They agreed, but promising and delivering are two different things……our account hasn’t yet been credited.

Then, multiple calls over multiple days to find out what alternatives we have for our airfare to Cairo.  What did we finally find out?

We have three alternatives:  (1) kiss it good-bye (2) book another trip by Friday morning or (3) hope Air France cancels the flight and gives us a full refund (not likely since they’ve adjusted their schedules to accommodate Cairo’s curfew and they’ve increased the size of the planes that they’re flying into Cairo…..to their credit, they must be trying to get more people out of the country).

Unwilling to lose the money and dubious that Air France will cancel the flight, we decide to plan and book another trip…..a process that normally weeks of research.

TA-DA!  (drum roll, please)…….

Based on comparable airfares and our “bucket list” itineraries, we decide to tour Croatia and Slovenia in September.

Such a simple sentence…..only 17 words……but it took an angonizing three days of research, second-guessing, discussion and planning.

Now…..back to planning our trip to Portugal 🙂
