Thursday, December 9th

It’s been a little disconcerting these past few nights because we’ve heard jets overhead…..not jets full of merry travelers headed to their holiday destinations….these are lower-flying, military-sounding, window-shaking, fighter jets.  We’ve also seen military helicopters flying overhead during our daily outings…..something we didn’t see in the summer.

We’re not sure where the closest military installation is…..the French Foreign Legion is in Castelnaudary, an hour away by car……there are air bases in Orange and Salon de Provence but they’re even further away.

Is this regular training or are they on a mission?  Are we unknowingly on a high alert?  Is France getting ready to invade Spain?

We’re hoping that they’re just making sure all is clear for Père Noël’s Christmas flight.

Joyeux Noël à toutes et à tous une bonne nuit…..Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night

Hmm. Maybe what you’re hearing is Santa getting his reindeer ready for the big night!
