Sunday, December 5th

We spent the afternoon going over our trip plans to ensure everything’s in order…..we’d hate to show up at our hotel in Munich on Saturday only to discover our reservation doesn’t begin until Sunday…..but everything seemed to be in order so we moved on to other projects.

To get a head start on Christmas dinner, I made an Apple-Cranberry-Chestnut stuffing roll (another British recipe) and popped it in the freezer.  With the leftovers, I made an Apple-Chestnut cake for tonight’s dessert.  I find a gratification and joy in cooking that’s been missing for quite a number of years.  Before I retired, I put very little thought in cooking.  It was, by necessity, quick (dinner, quite often, was wine and cheese).  To now have the leisure of perusing recipes….looking for just the right one …. is a sheer delight.  For me, creating meals from scratch is as creative a process as painting or sculpting…..it satisfies the soul and warms the heart…..and Craig likes it, too.
