I’m finally starting to feel better but, not wanting to tempt fate, we stayed at the cottage today. Craig did some laundry this morning. I still can’t walk down the stairs without holding on to the railing and a cane….. I’ve got no hands free to hold the laundry basket….. but I hung it to dry in the living room on two collapsible laundry racks. What neither of us anticipated was how much colder these damp clothes would make the cottage….we kept the fire going all day but it never got above 69 degrees in the cottage. Hmmmm……we’ll have to rethink how we’ll be handling the laundry.
We took an afternoon stroll along the canal and were surprised at how many flowers are in bloom this time of the year. While so much of the countryside is aflame with reds and golds, we have red flowering bushes and small violets next to the cottage, roses in the planters out front and yellow flowers all along the canal. Can’t wait to see what other surprises are in store for us this year.
When we returned, Craig checked our rodent traps. As he went up to the loft, he called for Felix. Felix took one look at where Craig was headed and promptly ran to the bedroom……looking at Craig in awe for daring to go up where the “monster” lurks. That’s our boy…..the original scaredy cat.
Felix le chat, le merveilleux, merveilleux chat ….
