Friday, August 13th

Not much going on today….too hot to do anything so we watched the boats going by.  There’s one boat in particular that grabs our attention for the shear number of times it passes our window.  It’s a large, open-air tourist boat and it cruises from Le Somail (just up the way) to the first lock on “our” canal….then it turns around, re-enters the lock and returns to it’s port….90 minutes round-trip on the boat or 45 minutes on foot.  At 10 euros, it’s not inexpensive so we keep wondering why it draws so many passengers and where they’re coming from….it remains one of life’s mysteries.

Tonight’s therapy was with Angelique, who wants to see me walking up the ramp next week.  Easier said than done since I’m not steady on the canes and the ramp is steep….for me, it might as well be Mount Everest…..but we’ll see how it goes.

Too hot to cook tonight so we stopped at the boulangerie for a fresh baguette and made Chicken Provencal sandwiches for dinner…. chicken infused with Herbs d’Provence, Dijon mustard, juicy tomatoes and butter lettuce on just-baked bread.  Delicious and just perfect for a hot day.

Bon Appétit
